*SET* Klipsch Klipschorn and Companion Speaker - Vintage 1960 Standing Speakers
. Condition is "Used". Local pickup only. I will not ship this item.
This listing includes two vintage standing speakers, one that I am almost positive is a Klipschorn and another that I am not sure about, but that I can say has very similar sound quality and is similar in many aspects. These two speakers, similar in size, shape, and sound, were used as a stereo pair for many years. They have been sitting in storage for a long time and would love to find a new owner.
The Klipschorn (the speaker with the shiny, reddish wood)
Unfortunately, this speaker has no tags or identification that declare it to be a Klipsch Klipschorn. However, it has been owned by my father and I since the 1960s. My father always called it a Klipschorn and, other than the absence of a tag, it is just like one and has the same beautiful sound. The only identification can be found on the horn, which is an Electro-Voice 848HF horn. I show a picture of this label.
    Good condition.
The speaker has been tested and sounds excellent
. The prettier wood on the front and top of the speaker has just been cleaned and polished and has a beautiful finish. The front wood paneling is mostly free of cuts and dents but there are a few. The wood is slightly chipped at certain points along the edges, which you can see in the pictures. The lower trim on the left and right sides has cracked and mostly separated from the lower trim on the front panel. I show the more severe crack in the pictures. The wood in the back (painted black) has many marks from dirt, dust, and some paint chipping, but nothing that can't be painted over -- though this side of the speaker will be tucked into a corner anyway. The upper part of the speaker (the part with the mesh) isn't very rigid.  The horn is in great condition but does have a coating of dust on the inside that has not been cleaned. The speaker mesh is also in very good condition -- it has no cuts or tears. If you have any questions about the condition, I will try to answer as best I can.
The Unmarked Speaker (the speaker with darker paneling and knobs on the front)
I will not claim that this speaker is any particular brand because I can't see any identification and my father never called it a Klipsch. It is an older model than the Klipschorn and it may even be from the 1950's. I have not removed the back paneling to see the horn model.
Very good condition. The speaker has also been tested and sounds excellent. I am not an audiophile so I can't give a great comparison of the sound qualities, but I thought this speaker sounded similar to the Klipschorn. The paneling of the speaker is all intact and feels rigid and isn't peeling or breaking off. There are some light scratches and signs of cosmetic wear but nothing is detached or falling off. The bottom corners have a little wear at the very edges but only for about a square centimeter of surface area. There is a noticeable scratch in the paneling on the top of the speaker, but that is the biggest issue that I noticed with the whole speaker. The back of the speaker, with the wood painted black, is in very good condition and isn't falling apart at all. There are some marks from light scratches, storage, and dust. Once again, if you have more questions about the condition don't hesitate to ask.
