Description
Originally released in 1992, this installment of the Green Frog Heritage Series covers not only the F Units, Alco PA’s, Fairbanks Morse Trainmasters & Geeps on a freight & passenger railroad famous for its song: Wabash Cannonball, but there are also railway boats, and other Road Names like Canadian National with a special cameo appearance by 4-8-4 number 6167, & Alco S2 number 8494 helping the northern to get its train ready, A rare EMD NW5 from an unknown railroad, Detroit & Toledo Shortline, Detroit Toledo & Ironton with a GP7 on a Caboose Hop, Ann Arbor with GP35 number 385 that now resides in Owosso along with Pere Marquette 1225, & Chicago & Northwestern 175, as well as Chicago & Western Illinois, & Norfolk & Western.These films were captured in 1952, 1955, 1956, 1958, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, & 1966 (the final year before the fallen flag of the Midwest was owned by Norfolk & Western).
Locations include 4th Street Union Depot in Detroit, Delray Junction Tower & Roundhouse with a turntable, Romulus Junction Tower & depot, Fort Wayne Indiana (the home for Nickel Plate 765), Mexico Missouri, Oakwood Yard, Windsor Ontario in Canada, St. Thomas bridge & Sports field, Walkerville with the Ford Water Tower in the going away shot, OJ Tower with 2 of the 3 F-units numbered after 2 Steam Locomotives: Norfolk & Western 611, & Southern 722 on one scene, as well as new subway cars on the rear of the same train with 2 cabooses as these built in St. Louis Machines are heading for the Eastern Seaboard (most likely New York City), Bellville Michigan, Milan Michigan at Ann Arbor Diamond, Huron River Bridge at French Landing, and Melvindale.
On one segment near the end of this program, there is a special segment where the footage at Delray have to be sped up with music added, then it stops & starts a couple of times until the tune is over.
The design on the case looks exactly the same as the other green frog titles: rails Buffalo & a reissue of Steam in the ‘50s.
