Created in 1930 by consolidating remaining trackage of Union Traction Co, Northern Indiana Railroad, and Interstate Public Services Co., the Indiana Railroad offered service from Louisville to Ft. Wayne. In 1934, lines of the Terre Haute, Indianapolis and Eastern and Dayton and Western were added while other lines were being abandoned, bringing service from Terre Haute to Ohio with connections at Dayton. Indianapolis, the hub of the system, was served by the world's largest traction terminal. But the end was only a few years away and the last trains ran in 1941.
