Description
Originally released in early 1992, this program covers lots of steam, diesels, & unexpected surprises on 2 fallen flag railroads that are now part of today’s Norfolk Southern for the NKP & Wheeling & Lake Erie for the AC&Y. Motive power on the NKP contains the 600 & 700 series Berkshires which one of them is referenced to a Lake Superior & Ishpeming 2-8-0 on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, the 200 series 0-8-0 switchers, the 500 series Mikados, a lone 100 series Hudson in the scrap line, Alco FPA4s, the 400 to 800 series GP9s, & the 100 series Fairbanks Morse units with a cab ride on one of them, plus an Alco RS-11, a GP18, & an Alco RS36. On the Akron Canton & Youngstown, there are a couple of diesels by Fairbanks Morse & even a special appearance by future famous surviving 4-8-4 Class T1 number 2102 from the Reading Rambles that is back in operational condition at the Reading & Northern in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.Locations include Lima Ohio home of the town’s own Locomotive works, Loraine, Vermillion siding, Fort Wayne Indiana, New Haven (with 767 but sister engine 765 resides there), Bellevue, Michigan City, Tower F Junction at Fostoria, with a Chesapeake & Ohio Freight, Canton, & other spots on this unique fallen flag railroad.
These films were photographed during the spring of 1954, the fall of 1956, the fall of 1957, June & July of 1958, May 1959, May 1960, June 1961, May 1962 with some rare snow on the ground, July 1963, & April 1971 (A month before Amtrak’s Debut).
This program was recorded on a T-45 minute Fuji Tape & was printed on the 9th day of 1992.
