Alco Audio CD - 60 Minutes of nonstop six-axle Alco & MLW Audio CDTHE “BIG ALCOS” (M&C30/36series)
CD PR-4
A 60 minute audio CD taken in real time during the 1970's and early 1980'sThis particular CD THE BIG ALCOS (M & C 30 series), features the sounds of the “BIG” ALCOS , C636, C630,C430, M636, M630and the one M640.
Track 1: a lashup of 3 CN M636s idling on the point of a stopped freight at Brockville, Ontario.
Track 2: Next this same train leaving westbound. These big Alcos are awesome in their starting power.
Track 3: Next another CN freight with a mixture of 3 M630/36’s , this time an eastbound, arriving , changing crews and leaving Brockville.
Track 4: Next CP’s D&H subsidiary. First 3 CP 4700’s hauling a heavy freight up the notorious Belden Hill north of Binghamton, the horns are CP, the territory is D&H, but the sound is all Alco.
Track 5: Next a similar train with more 4700s and 4500s at the same exact spot.
Track 6: Next its back to Brockville, Ont where a set of 3 CN 6 axle Alcos start and accelerate a freight eastbound.
Track 7: Next a fast moving freight westbound out of Binghamton, NY on Conrail (former Erie-Lackawanna) trackage with 3 C630/36’s in charge.
Track 8: Next some big CN Alco’s westbound, just west of Brockville.
Track 9 & 10: Next two more clips of CP’s big Alco’s pulling freights northbound up Belden Hill.
Track 11: Then it’s back to Bevier St yard in Binghamton where we hear the awesome sound of 3 big CP Alco’s starting a big train up the hill. This is a standing start of a heavy train and for Alco fans it doesn’t get any better..
Track 12: Next a southbound freight coming down Belden.
Track 13: Short snippets of C628s in Oneonta yard, and
Track 14: snippets of an M636/GP9 combination leaving Brockville on the CN.
Track 15: a NYC C430 starting up, making up a train and leaving Utica, NY yard.
Track 16: This is followed by more CN C636’s stomping out of Brockville w/ a freight.
Track 17: Next its back to Binghamton where we hear the shop men crank over a big 251 powered CP C636 and we listen as it leaves NB on a train.
Track 18: Next its Susquehanna, Pa.. where we hear a long freight with big alco power come around a long sweeping curve (red rocks) and goes down the valley, the distant sound of Big 251’s at work is a memorable sound even from some distance away.
Track 19: Next we go to D&H’s Saratoga Spa, NY yard where we catch a CP C630 moving around in the yd, interesting Alco sound.
Track 20 & 21: Then we go to a spot west of Brockville for two different WB freights at speed. Then another CN C636 leaves Brockville,
Track 22 & 23: Followed by 2 clips of a Suzy Q C430 (ex NYC) switching Utica yard. Interesting that after all the years these C430s found there way back close to their original stomping grounds.
Track 24: We finish this program with a clip of 2 sets of CP M630/36’s moving around Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada, yard, finally one of them leaves with a freight.
If you are a fan of BIG ALCO POWER, just sit back and relive the action and sounds of the ALCO Centurys and M-Series hard at work doing as they were designed to do, pull hard, smoke a lot, and generate awesome sound and pulling power. A unique sound that is fast disappearing as one by one and in bunches the BIG ALCOS are being retired, for the last time. You can’t get these sounds anymore.
Happy to combine shipping & International bidders most welcome.
