We’ll start in Atlanta’s Inman Yard, crossroads of the system and home to NS’s biggest intermodel terminal. From here trains are dispatched to the Northeast, the Carolinas, Florida, New Orleans, Birmingham, and Chattanooga. See auto racks, double stacks, piggybacks, and Roadrailers race across this hill-and-dale mainline. Watch long manifests and heavy coal trains from Appalachia and Wyoming behind Dash 9-40CW’s and SD70’s slog up the long Braswell Mountain grade, often using radio-controlled mid-train helpers. Run-through power from Union Pacific, Conrail, Kansas City Southern, and Southern Pacific are frequent sights.
